Builder's Parts Storage
After years of gathering parts to build with, it is getting more difficult to decide what to do with all this stuff. I actually use very little of what is on hand so it was time to come up with a solution as to what parts would be nice to have within easy reach. I use two different colour schemes, the old stand by Medium Red/Green and the 70's Yellow/Zinc.
I have built several storage boxes in the past but my current model fills the bill quite nicely. There is plenty of space to re-stock the drawers should my modelling habits change. I based my needs to the types of models I usually construct. I have little use for the longer Angle Girders so they are not included but are available elsewhere if needed. The result is that 2 number 10 sets can be stored in this rotating cube which requires only a small footprint on your work bench.
This unit gobbles up quite a few (64) 12-1/2" Angle Girders so a lot of scruffy ones were used. 48 are required just for the drawers and guides but you can replace these with nylon rails to suit. The cube sits on 4 x 2-1/2" x 5-1/2" Flanged Plates. There is a Lazy Susan type bearing held in place with velcro pads
