BCMM Gathering - 01-17-2016
Observations - by Jim Picton
The first meeting of 2016 got underway just after 1:30 pm at Fred's place.
Glen Baker took a ride on the Government Barge across the Salt-Chuck from Vancouver Island to show us his latest creation. He wasn't sure what it was so left it up to us to decide. So it is officially a Fairground Ride.
The model was brought into the house in several modules where Glen spent some time putting it all together. Click Here to see more photos.
Also on display were several new models we had not seen before which indicates that yes, there is some building taking place as interest grows within the club. Three new members are on the roster as of late. Dugan Porter from Seattle, WA., and local boys Alan Partridge and Duncan Fraser. Welcome to the group.
Brian brought along a model of a Bi-Plane and a Pirate Ship.
Steve had a Solenoid Engine up and running - Last of the series. See his other engines under Videos.
Sam had a new Tower Crane displayed in a carry case ready for assembly.
Alan has informed us that he is about to build a model, that of the Falkirk Wheel in Scotland. I have known Alan for some 18 years and have never know him to build a Meccano model as he has been known locally as a collector. He had with him a wooden model of the Wheel and a copy of Constructor Quarterly Magazine where it shows an excellent model in Meccano. You can't back out now fella, we have it in writing.
Usual thanks to Fred and Sam. Also to everyone who showed up.
