BCMM Gathering - 15 November, 2015
Observations - by Jim Picton
The gang gathered once again at Fred's place for the afternoon.
We gained a new member, Brent Simpson who recently moved here from the Toronto area. He loaded up his car with models and we set them all up for everyone to gawk at. It was nice to see something different in the way we build models. We get used to the types of models we each seem to favour and when someone from another area shows up things get interesting.
Steve brought several new sets that were sent to us by Dave Duncan in Toronto for sale at reduced prices and they were gone by the end of the day.
Steve also has his little fellow with him today and we were all amazed that it actually worked after hearing all the nightmares that others from around the globe seem to be having.
Sam had a table full of small models as he gets back into the swing of model building.
Brian brought along an Eiffel Tower, an Electric Engine in nickel and a set from Another System.
A few of the remaining BCMC members showed up as well. Alan Partridge brought along a card of condolences to the family of Al Barton who passed away recently. Al was a founding member of the BC Meccano Club back in 1981 and was an avid modeller and railway buff. He always had a house full of models he had built and of course a visit was not complete without seeing his railway layout which was quite extensive. Al knew his way around Meccano and all the tricks needed to assemble a model without showing all the details which had us looking through holes to find out how the darn thing worked. He will be missed.
