BCMM Gathering - 20 September, 2015
Observations - by Jim Picton
This was the first BCMM gathering for the new fall season. There were two tables set up with various models along with a collection of several small models that had been on display at four Burnaby Libraries over the last two months. Comments we received from the Burnaby Museum who were in charge of setting up the booth at the various locations were that they were more than pleased with the response they received from the kids and parents.
Sam and Linda Chow have become new members of BCMM. They brought along a few items we had not seem before, one being a Big Gun, the railway gun that was used during WWII. Sam had purchased it from a fellow on Vancouver Island some time ago. Very nice.
We had a special guest from the Meccano Club of South Africa, Paul Hatty who filled us all in on the goings on in his part of the world.
Paul, with his wife are traveling around BC then heading east to Montreal where they will be met by friends who will take them down to New York for a visit there.
Brian brought along a new acquired Hornby boxed set. Jim had a new model of a modified Marine Steam engine from the 1950's No.7-8 manual which ran quietly all afternoon. Grant show us some older photos of his Dad's models as well as a few samples of bearings Bob had made up. Fred is working on a half-track model and as usual it is already getting heavy and he only has the tracks made up. James brought a large scale non-Meccano locomotive frame. Wayne made a small swing boat model.
Thanks go out to our host, Fred for laying out the coffee and goodies (love those Tim Bits)
Next item on the list to do is the 1 day display at the Surrey Library next Saturday (Sept. 26th.) which will be handled by Wayne & Fred.
Drop by if you get a chance.
