Locking Off a Battery Pack
W. Russell - 8 Oct. 2016
Rather than removing batteries from a battery pack to prevent them from discharging accidentally I leave them in the pack and lock the switch in the off position.

Large Bearings
W. Russell - 3 Oct. 2016
When I want an axle to run in a larger bearing I use a brass coupler. Mounting the coupler is easy as long as you add shims so the screws do not touch the axle. The hole on top is a great place to put in a drop of oil.

Blind Bolts
W. Russell - 3 Oct. 2016
Sometimes I need a bolt in a totally enclosed space. Or at least a very tight space. Bolting in a coupler to the inside when there is access will give you something to screw to once the inside is no longer accessible.

Convert 3 Way Battery Switch to a simple On-Off switch

The Switch Case of the 700 series Motors has a 3 way switch. For-Off-Rev. This can be made to operate the motor in one direction only by adding a 2-1/2" Perforated Strip and a 1-1/2" or 2" Narrow Strip to the top of the case as shown. Parts can be bolted to the case on either side of switch to suit.

More than just a Spring Clip

Have you ever needed to temporarily secure pieces together? Use spring clips (part #35). On their own they clamp 4 pieces together. Pinching them will allow you to clamp 2 pieces together. They clamp well enough that you can adjust the pieces while you line up the holes.
Using pliers carefully you can pinch them down enough to stay on one piece. This might not sound useful, but I use them to make story sticks so I don't have to keep counting holes. They can also be used as depth stops or limits as long as there is not a lot of force hitting them.
Quick and Easy Tap Handle
Jim Picton - 2-7-2015 Here is a simple solution to make up a Tee Handle to hold your hole tap. A 3 Hole Connector, 2 x 1-1/2" Axle Rods and 3 Bolts does the job. The tap fits nicely into the center hole of the connector. This is OK for cleaning up your parts threads but if you are making new holes then I would suggest you tighten the bolt against the tap's squared face to provide more grip. |
Here is an easy way to insert Boiler Ends into WRI Tires using a Drill Press as an Arbor
Mount a 2 inch pulley onto a short Axle Rod. Insert the pulley assembly into the chuck of a Drill Press (power off)
Apply a bit of 3 in 1 oil to the outside of the Boiler End
Align the pulley over the WRI tire then lower handle until snug.
