Bench Top Tool Organizer
Designed & Built by: Jim Picton - Sept.30,2015
If you are a builder you probably can not find that darn spanner you had in your hand just a few minutes ago. It may be buried in the pile of extra parts on your bench that were a good idea at the time but you had another brainstorm and just let the pile build up or it fell onto the floor to gather amongst all the other nuts, bolt, washers or whatever.
Time to get out your trusty telescopic magnet to make a sweep of the floor. Oh, oh, where is it?
With a few common parts you can build this Super-Deluxe Bench-Top Tool Organizer. The unit as shown cleaned up my bench quite nicely.
Everything is within easy reach, well most of the time, but I have been known to run out of spanners due to the reasons above.
Here we have the completed Tool Organizer. It does not take up a lot of space but as you can see holds quite a bit of handy items. The unit as shown uses 14 x p/n 52 Flanged Plates but can be extended to suit your needs. Two of the Cylinders are bolted to the sides of the stand and the centre two are bolted together. 2 Angle Brackets are attached to the bottoms and the assembly is bolted to the base. |
Front View - Bottom Shelf. The 4 x p/n 216 2-1/2" Cylinders contain the following.
1 - Pens, 6" Steel Ruler 2 - Telescopic Magnet 3 - Container of Light Oil 4 - LED Flashlight The Cube p/n 160g on the left holds 2 x 3mm Allen Keys and a Single 2mm key. The one on the right holds 2 Open Ended Spanners resting on Square Nuts. |
The Top Shelf has a Clock to tell you that you should have gone to bed several hours ago, a Phone to call someone for help and in the front are two Box Spanners.
|
Left Side
A 3 inch Square is held in place by a couple of p/n 161 Girder Brackets. |
Rear View
On the left we have a 2mm and 3mm Allen Handle and a 3mm Tee Handle. To the right is an assortment of Flat Blade Screwdrivers. A p/n 45 Double Bent Strip keeps the phone lines in place. There are also 4 x 1/2" Angle Brackets securing the back plates to the shelf |
Right Side
A Pair of Tweezers fit in the top holes of the Flanged Plate . The Tape Measure clips onto a p/n 51f Flanged Plate bolted to the side of the vertical Flanged Plate. |
The beauty of this is that there are many holes to poke things into and extra brackets can be added anytime as the need arises.
