I was inspired by one of Dugan's experiments.
My first attempt worked, but not well. Not enough leverage and although 3 cables are enough for 360 degree movement it was not very smooth.

The second attempt works much better. Larger plates gave more leverage. Four cables has a push / pull operation. Using universal joints allowed for much smoother movement.
